I wish I could eat here all the time. The steak is amazing. I love the taste of the sauces. The pasta with the chicken on the side is delicous. The decoration is unique and colorful. My dad has a shop litterely facing balthazar, so everytime I visit beirut souks and visit my dad, I eat at balthazar. The starters are delicous. But come on. The main reason I come is for the pain perdu. No one makes it ad good as balthazar. Overall my favorite restaurant!!!!!

Most of the people go there just for the pain perdu. Can't blame them though it's really good, crispy on the outside with a fluffy, soft, moist, and delicious half cooked batter on the inside and sauce on the side.

I suggest you try the painperdu, it's the best dessert they serve. I go there specially to eat it; it is indeed the best in town! :)

Basing my review on the pain perdu only, as it is the only thing I ate there. It was really good, extra crispy on top and super moist and fluffy inside, served with hot caramel sauce and delicious ice cream. Can't understand the bad reviews below, but hey, to each their own opinion.

Hmmm, lately it's Ben getting worse I think they changed management or operation manager. The Pain Perdu use to be much better, staff use to be more professional and so on ........... ( negative ) it's a shame use to like the place.

En general, c'est pas mal, sauf que le menu est tout sauf français, international cuisine plus tôt, Le staff devrait être plus professionnel, L'ambiance est agréable, J'ai bien aimé tout les plats, Par contre j'ai été déçu par la présentation des plats.

Such a disappointment. A restaurant being in the center of beirut and THAT expensive, u expect to have a great experience , but instead, it was horrible.. The highlight of the disappointment was the so called "pain perdu". Seriously it was soooo horrible. WHO serves it without ice cream!! It was tasteless . Its like ur eating a hot bread heated from the microwave. I wonder why so many people go there. But I look around and only see those prestigious people there and I finaly get it.

Extremely deceiving. Starting with a horrible menu that can be described by all kind of words except being french... We couldn't choose anything but a tasteless burger with a piece of wood that they called meat and a sponge that they called a bun!!! and a shrimpless shrimp biryani that tastes awful!!! The food was late and the staff was so unprofessional to a point that we were hearing them shouting to each others...Very much overpriced considering the quality of what they called food!!! Couldn't hang on to try the "famous" pain perdu (apparemment ils l'ont enfin retrouve). PS i would finally give it a minus 5 stars rating

very nice interior, a bit overpopulated with tables; they serve great pain perdu in a pot, worth a try.
